This special tool is designed to remove the oil control valve for the variable valve timing (VVT) located at the end of the intake camshaft. It is required when removing the cam bridge, camshaft, cylinder head, or when replacing timing chains.
This socket is most commonly used on the 3rd Generation 2.0T and 1.8T TSI engines, frequently found in a variety of MQB / MK7 models. Note that there are several versions of this tool that look similar, but differ slightly in the offset of their pins. Always confirm you have the correct valve for your vehicle using the application data.
