The Stage 1+ tuning software for the Volkswagen MK8 Golf R engines requires an upgraded intercooler to achieve advertised power figures. The Unitronic MK8 Golf R Stage1+ software is flashed on to vehicles at our location in Cornelius NC or through the Uniconnect+ Cable (Required for self installation). This performance software is optimized for 93 octane fuel. Give your VW MK8 Golf R engine the power it deserves with this Performance Tune. Start/Stop Memory Enabled Unitronic ECU calibrations include Start/Stop Memory, which enables the vehicle to now remember the last set position.
Boost Gauge Recalibration The OEM Boost Gauge has been recalibrated to show relative/gauge pressure rather than absolute pressure.
Coolant Temperature Patch The coolant temperature gauge has been patched to show actual coolant temperature as opposed to the "dummy" gauge as is factory.
Advanced Thermal Management Factory strategies include a tendency to favor higher operating temperatures for targeting maximum efficiency. Unitronic has developed and implemented its Advanced Thermal Management to target lower coolant temperatures based on the current drive mode selected by the driver. In more performance demanding conditions, like when operating your vehicle in Sport or Race modes, TCO targets are set to 90*C (194*F). Inversely, when maximum efficiency is preferred like when in Comfort or Eco modes, TCO targets are set to 100*C (212*F) and 105*C (221*F) respectively.

Optimized Responsiveness, Smoothness, Drivability, and Comfort Unitronic’s ECU calibrations are engineered to improve engine response and reduce low-end lag. Unitronic’s Performance Software has gained worldwide recognition and is well known for its broad powerband, with smooth power delivery, maximizing responsiveness and “area under the curve”, under normal and hard acceleration.
Ignition Timing Precisely Calibrated for Higher Octane Fuel Engine calibration optimized to take advantage of higher fuel quality to extract maximum energy from the combustion. Therefore, when using a higher octane fuel, more power and better fuel efficiency will be achieved.
Optimized Maximum Output Unitronic’s ECU Calibrators deliver the maximum power output while staying within the operational limits of the factory engine and drivetrain components. Specifically, this results in the highest engine performance without sacrificing the reliability of the engine, turbocharger, or other engine and drivetrain components.
Factory Safety Limiters Retained OEM “fail safes” are retained within the ECU calibration. Close monitoring of all operation parameters ensures that engine operation stays within factory components limits, resulting in reliability.
Power Delivery Perfectly Optimized Throughout the Power Band Aligned with the OEM strategy, the calibration is designed to offer a large flat torque plateau to provide a smooth and linear power band. Maximum torque output is achieved sooner and maintained longer which creates a broader torque plateau and greater area under the curve. This results in an improved acceleration and optimal engine operation.
