Why Upgrade?

The factory IS12 turbo on the 1.8T runs out of headroom quickly when tuned. The IS20 provides significantly more airflow, supporting higher boost levels and horsepower figures while still maintaining OEM spool characteristics. Note: The IS20 turbocharger is factory equipment on the MK7 GTI (2.0T). This kit is designed specifically as an upgrade for 1.8T MQB models that were not originally equipped with the IS20.
