A common oil leak found on the Gen 3 engine is from the upper timing cover. This is found on the passenger side of the engine at the top. When this leaks the oil will tend to run down the engine block and drip from the passenger side of the engine.
This upper timing cover kit would be used by VW/Audi specialty shops (DAP Repair) to repair a customers leaking upper timing cover. To replace this upper timing cover the factory manual says to remove the engine mount. This would require supporting the engine from underneath with floor jack and wood (to prevent oil pan damage).
