Oil leaks commonly attributed to the valve cover are typically caused by failure of the cam bridge seal.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eUnlike traditional engines where the valve cover simply seals the top of the cylinder head, the EA888 Gen 3 cam bridge also functions as the camshaft bearing assembly. The cam bridge bolts directly to the cylinder head and is sealed using anaerobic flange sealant. Over time this sealant can degrade, allowing engine oil to leak from the cam bridge area.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eOil leaks from this area are commonly mistaken for a valve cover gasket failure.
