North American MK8 Golf R models did not come from the factory with folding mirrors. This Euro-spec option provides a functional upgrade that folds your mirrors in when the vehicle is locked or when you select the fold position on the switch - helping protect the mirror housings in tight garages or crowded parking areas.
When properly coded using OBDeleven or VCDS, the mirrors fold automatically when the alarm is armed and unfold when the car is unlocked. You can also fold and unfold them manually via the folding position on the mirror adjustment switch.
This kit requires OBDeleven or VCDS for proper activation of the folding function. These tools allow you to enable the folding behavior in the vehicle’s modules.
Note: These can be used for Golf R or GTI models - For GTI models you will need to swap over your original puddle lights.
