In Europe the MK8 GTI or Golf R would have come with power folding mirrors. To keep US vehicle cost low this was an option not provided on the North American MK8 models. Power Folding mirros help give your car a little less width. If you want to ensure your mirros can clear you tight garage, or you dont want your mirrors sticking out in parking lots these will do the job.
* Note: these mirrors have R logo puddle lights installed in them. For GTI models you will need to swap over the original puddle lights
