EA888 Gen 3 Cam Bridge / Cam Cage Reseal Kit

This kit includes the seals, gaskets, sealant, and one-time-use hardware required to reseal the cam bridge (also commonly referred to as the cam cage) on EA888 Gen 3 2.0T engines.

Note: EA888 Gen 3 engines do not use a traditional valve cover gasket. Oil leaks commonly attributed to the valve cover are typically caused by failure of the cam bridge seal.

Unlike traditional engines where the valve cover simply seals the top of the cylinder head, the EA888 Gen 3 cam bridge also functions as the camshaft bearing assembly. The cam bridge bolts directly to the cylinder head and is sealed using anaerobic flange sealant. Over time this sealant can degrade, allowing engine oil to leak from the cam bridge area.

Oil leaks from this area are commonly mistaken for a valve cover gasket failure. In many cases the leak originates from the cam bridge sealing surface, camshaft adjuster magnet seals, or the upper timing cover gasket.

This kit provides the components required to properly reseal the cam bridge during service, including new gaskets, seals, and replacement hardware for components that must be removed during the repair.

Common symptoms of a cam bridge leak include:

• Oil leaking down the front of the engine
• Oil accumulation around the cam bridge or upper timing cover
• Oil pooling around ignition coils or spark plug wells
• Oil residue near the vacuum pump or PCV housing
• Burning oil smell after driving
