MK5 Jetta 2005.5-2010
The MK5 Jetta platform spanned from 2005 to 2010 in the United States and was heavily supported by all aftermarket tuners and performance part manufacturers. The platform ultimately came with three engine options: a naturally aspirated 2.5L 5-cylinder, the same 2.0T motor that was offered in the MK5 GTI, and eventually a 2.0 TDI variant. The platform was available in a sedan version as well as a Sportwagen variant. Transmission options for the platform ranged from a a 6-speed manual to Tiptronic automatic to DSG on some models. The Jetta GLI was a popular offering in this generation, offering the sporty suspension borrowed from the GTI in a sedan form-factor.
If your Jetta has a 2.0T FSI gasoline motor, be sure you keep a close eye on premature cam follower wear. Of all three motors, the 2.0T engine responds best to performance parts such as cold air intakes, downpipes, catback exhausts, K04 turbo upgrades, coilovers, and more. The 2.0TDI is often a choice for its excellent mileage and the 2.5L motor is far from a slouch as well.
