When installing a fuel filter on a diesel vehicle it is required that you first prime this filter. The reason this is done is to prevent air from entering the fuel system which can make the vehicle hard to start after the installation of a new fuel filter.
You can prime the filter by filling it with diesel fuel or ATF( Automatic transmission fluid).
