The clock spring allows the vehicle to have a constant electrical connection to the buttons on the steering wheel, horn switch and drivers airbag. This part also has the steering angle sensor for the stability control system. A bad clock spring will often return in an airbag light for issues related to the drivers airbag in the steering wheel.
*note: Some vehicles require using a scan tool like OBDeleven to verify which part number clock spring you need. Be sure you are getting the correct one for your car by doing so.
